SMC Welcomes HKBU Delegates
On February 23, Hong Kong Baptist University(HKBU) delegation including Huang Yu, Professor Emeritus of the Department of Journalism at the School of Communication and Senior Adviser to the President of HKBU, Li Jinqiu, Director of the Mainland Development Office of HKBU, Feng Yujin, Commissioner of the Mainland Development Office, and Shi Chiheng, Commissioner of the Shanghai Office of HKBU, visited the School of Media and Communication. In the meeting room of SMC to welcome them are Zhang Weigang, Director of the United Front Work Department of Shanghai Jiao Tong University, Li Benqian, Dean of the School of Media and Communication, Peng Dayin, Secretary of the Party Committee of SMC, Li Xiaojing, Associate Dean of SMC, Xue Ke, director of the Department of Journalism and Communication, Wang Qian, director of the International Office of the SJTU Graduate School, Cao Wei and Wu Jiaxing, directors of the SJTU Office of Hong Kong, Macao and Taiwan Affairs. Zhang Lianshan, director of the English programs of SMC, Associate professors of the Department of Journalism Wu Fang, Li Yungeng, Li Xueqing and other young teachers also attended the meeting.
Prof. Zhang Weigang and Prof. Li Benqian extended a warm welcome to the delegation from Hong Kong Baptist University. Dr. Peng Dayin introduced the history, faculty, talent cultivation, research achievements and international education of our school to the visitors. Prof. Huang Yu shared the history and development, teaching philosophy and international cooperation of the School of Communication, HKBU.

During the talk, the two parties expressed the shared hope to promote student and faculty exchanges, joint academic building and other cooperation between the two universities, and put forward ideas and suggestions for giving full play to their respective professional advantages.
The School of Communication at Hong Kong Baptist University was established in 1968, offering a full range of undergraduate and postgraduate courses in communication. The School consists of Departments of Communication, Interactive Media and Journalism. The School is committed to creating an environment for researchers to thrive through a number of institutes and research centers to promote research excellence in different areas of communication and to promote interdisciplinary and extra-disciplinary research. At present, there are about 35 research scholars and 40 PhD students.
